In a desperate attempt to get away, a man made a bad move. He jumped into a river, even though he does not know how to swim. Tyler Lee Korman, 24, from Boca Raton, Florida, allegedly tried to steal a baby stroller from a 12-year-old girl but when she would not let go of the stroller, and she screamed for her parents, he grabbed the iPhone that was on the stroller and ran.

“He was looking for an easy target, but luckily, the brave 12-year-old fought back,” Lily Hartline, 51, from Boca Raton, Florida, told YourJewishNews.com.

The girl’s father chased Korman, who exited through an emergency door, and headed for a river. The thief jumped into the river. Before taking the plunge, he threw the phone to the ground in hopes to be left alone. Meanwhile, police were called and they made it to the scene. Police did not have a hard time getting Korman, as he made one crucial mistake. He jumped into the river but he didn’t know how to swim.

Halfway into the river he called for help. He told police that he planned on swimming across the canal but it was deeper than he thought, according to local reports.Police found two syringes and a metal spoon in his jeans. Korman said that he planned to sell the phone to buy prescription drugs on the street, according to the police.

Korman was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and faces charges of robbery by sudden theft, theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $9,000.
