Ultra-Orthodox Jews celebrating while other Jews mourn the Holocaust |
(Scroll down for video) While the entire Jewish population around the world were mourning the 6 million Jews who were killed during the Holocaust, some ultra-Orthodox Jews were busy rejoicing by holding a feast just minutes from the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial, according to press reports in Israel.
According to video uploaded to the internet, hundreds of ultra-Orthodox Jews were enjoying a picnic in a park near Yad Vashem, which is the Israel’s Holocaust Memorial museum.
The celebrations were held while Holocaust survivors were attending a national event of Holocaust remembrance. The video shows a single group, which seems to be a group of yeshiva students, their wives and sisters. Presumably, there were many more ultra-Orthodox Jews at the picnic earlier, according to the garbage left behind all over the park.
“I can't believe the ignorance of those yeshiva students. They are desecrating those 6 million Jews who were brutally killed during the Holocaust by the Nazi regime. Their rabbis should teach them more about the Holocaust,” Nechama Goldfinger, 23, a granddaughter of a Holocaust surviver in Jerusalem, Israel told YourJewishNews.com after seeing the video.
“These young yeshiva students should learn to clean up after themselves. The park was littered with trash after they left. I don't know the reason why they couldn't clean up the mess,” Samuel Boimel, 51, who lives near the park told YourJewishNews.com.
The chief rabbi of Israel, Yona Metzger, condemned the act and called it a grave desecration of God's name.
