A drunken man was responsible enough to call police to report himself as driving under the influence of alcohol before anyone got hurt, according to police reports in Indiana.

The northern Indiana man called police, told dispatchers that he was driving drunk and needed to be taken off the road, got his wish when a sheriff's deputy arrived.

State Police said that 24-year-old Matthew Devore of Logansport was arrested early Monday on Interstate 65 in Jasper County. Police said Devore had a blood alcohol level of 0.09, just above Indiana's legal limit for driving. He was detained at the Jasper County Jail on charges of driving while intoxicated.

Devore State Police said he lost control of his car on Monday morning and ended in a grass median with a flat tire.
Police said Devore then called police, saying he was drunk and needed to be taken off the road. Then a deputy was dispatched to the scene.

“At least he did the responsible thing of reporting himself to police before anyone got hurt. I hope this man will learn his lesson and not drive drunk in the future,” Rebbeca Simmons, 18, of Indianapolis, Indiana told YourJewishNews.com after reading the story.

This is not the first time a drunken man called police on himself. Antonio Candelaria was arrested when officers found him drunk in his driveway and lying on the ground with his foot stuck in his motorcycle.

Police said that the 50-year-old had called police for help after getting his foot caught.
According to police, the results of the breath test came in at 0.16, which is twice the legal limit in New Mexico.
Court records showed that Candelaria has a long list of DWI arrests and a handful of convictions.
