(Scroll down for video) Israeli Jews and Gaza Palestinians met for an extensive program on exchanging ideas of how to better grow all types of strawberries, according to press reports in Israel.
New varieties of strawberry were recently introduced to the Israeli citizens in an open day organized by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Strawberry growers and visitors from all Israel and the Gaza Strip came to experience new flavors and interesting combinations, first hand.
Farmers in the Gaza Strip came to visit their Israeli colleagues and exchange ideas.
The event provided not only tasting different types of strawberries, but also, different types of do it yourself fruit flavored chocolate coverings.
Mohamed Yusuf Abu Toameh, the Head of strawberry growing, Ministry of Agriculture of Israel, said:
"Today we are presenting our research and development achievements in all matters relating to strawberries in terms of development, species, methods of cultivation, growing agro-techniques, reducing the use of pest control materials, making a healthier and better quality of strawberry."
Much progress has been made in the past decade to reduce the use of toxic insecticides and replaced by natural processes.
“It is nice to see that Israelis and palestinians can work together in order to produce a better strawberry. It was very interesting to learn about different types of strawberries and different types of chocolate flavors for strawberries,” Liora Fischer, 26, who was at the event told YourJewishNews.com.Mobile video not loading?
