Rivka Teitel |
The wife of a convicted and jailed Jewish terrorist claimed that Israeli police officers sexually harassed her when they questioned her, according to press reports in Israel.
Rivka Teitel, the wife of Jewish terrorist Yaakov Teitel, filed a complaint with the Police Internal Affairs Department alleging that she was sexually harassed during one of her interrogation sessions.
Police said however, that the case has already been closed after Teitel failed to show up for a scheduled meeting, in order to proceed with her claim.
Yaakov Teitel, who was convicted in early 2013 for the murder of two Palestinians, was arrested in 2009 after a lengthy investigation.
Since his arrest, his wife lived with their children in the settlement Shvut Rachel, located in the Israeli controlled West Bank.
Rivka Teitel was arrested during a wave of arrests in late 2012 in several settlements in Binyamin, and said that during her interrogation she suffered verbal abuse, degrading and from crude sexual comments.
She was released after several days and recently decided to file the complaint.
“It is very difficult to really know what went on during questioning if Teitel refuses to give a statement or talk to investigators about the incident. It could be that she is embarrassed or afraid. However, it could also be that the incident never occurred, so she decided to drop the matter,” Nathan Sherman, 41, an attorney in Tel Aviv, Israel told YourJewishNews.com.
"The complaint was filed by an attorney of Teitel. She was subpoenaed to testify so her claim could be investigated further. She did not show up, so the case was closed," the Internal Affairs unit said in a statement.
