An Israeli man was arrested and charged with assault related charges after shooting his little brother who was set to get married several days later after a dispute arose between them, according to Israeli police reports.
The 20-year-old man stumbled into an Acre hotel after being shot by his brother and hotel staff called emergency services. He was taken for treatment at a hospital in Nahariya.
The cause of the disagreement between the brothers is still unknown, but witnesses reported that the older brother, 30, ran after the younger brother on the streets of the old city with a gun in his hand. When he managed to catch up with his brother, he shot him and then fled from the scene.
The younger brother managed to drag himself from the scene to a nearby hotel where the hotel employees called Magen David Adom. The man suffered from a gunshot wound on his left side of his body.
An initial investigation found that the younger brother was supposed to get married on Friday and that a statement has been taken from their mother by police. The mother of the two admitted that her older son shot her younger son. Based on testimony from neighbors, the older son is married and now lives in Nazareth, and the shooting was due to a dispute that arose between the two.
The suspect was brought before a judge and he was jailed pending the completion of the investigation, according to court proceedings.
“The mother of the two must be in terrible pain. Women work hard to raise their children so she must be devastated after witnessing her older son shooting her younger son,” Michal Lerner, 23, of Jerusalem, Israel told YourJewishNews.com.
