Taharat Habayit car which takes women to the mikvah |
Want to go to the mikvah but have no way of getting there? No problem. The “Purity Car” will drive you there.
The Jerusalem based organization called “Taharat Habayit,” whose goal is to encourage Jewish women to go to the mikvah, offers to take women to the nearest mikvah.
Jewish women are required to immerse in a mikvah (ritual bath) after they have finished their menstrual cycle.
Jewish law prohibits delaying the immersion. Therefore, the Taharat Habait organization came up with a unique idea of driving women to the nearest mikvah and then drive them back when done.
The organization was especially busy this week, as people had a hard time getting to the mikvah due to the snowstorm.
"The top priority of the organization is to raise awareness of the importance of the mitzvah of family purity," the organization's president, Rabbi Yehezkel Mutzafi, said.
"We operate even in difficult weather conditions like rain and snow, so that women can adhere to the laws of Jewish purity, and reach the mikvah in the easiest and most convenient way possible," he said.
According to their website, the organization has built nearly one hundred mikvaot throughout Israel.
“Much emphasis is put on the external design of the mikvaot, from the entrance room and into the ritual bath itself, as well as to the flooring, furniture and lighting. Every woman can enjoy a pleasant and luxurious experience,” they wrote.
