Four Israeli soldiers were left with serious injuries after their tank suddenly exploded, according to a report by Israeli military officials.
Military officials said that the Armored Corps soldiers were in the middle of a training exercise when gunpowder ignited in the tank.
Two soldiers were seriously injured during the training exercise in the Golan Heights region on Tuesday. Another soldier suffered moderate wounds, while a fourth received light to moderate injuries.
The Israeli army launched an investigation into the incident.
Two Israel Air Force helicopters and a Magen David Adom helicopter transported the wounded soldiers to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.
An initial investigation conducted by the IDF revealed that while the soldiers were trying to extract a malfunctioning shell, the shell broke due to a technical problem. The soldier began to collect the spilled gunpowder.
Later, during the training exercise, the tank exploded. The tank crew suffered from burns and smoke inhalation.
