A man did not notice that a knife was stuck in his back, and he was able to sleep peacefully for many hours, according to rescue workers in New Jersey.
For ten hours, the 42-year-old Trenton man did not know that something was wrong until his brother identified the problem.
"His brother said that he had a knife blade protruding from his back," Lt. Mark Kieffer, a spokesperson for the Trenton Police, said.
The victim, who was not identified, was stabbed during a fight on his porch, Kieffer said.
The fight began at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, when the victim, who had been drinking, went outside to smoke a cigarette.
While smoking, another man came and asked for a light. When the victim refused, an argument broke out between the two, Kieffer said.
The victim thought he won the fight because the other man suddenly escaped.
The police were called to the victim's house, where they confirmed that there was a 5-inch blade stuck in his back.
He was taken to a hospital, where the knife was removed. The victim is expected to survive his wounds and could be discharged soon.
The police said that the victim was uncooperative with detectives.
Police have launched an investigation, and so far, no arrests have been made.
