A man was beheaded as punishment after he committed incest and got the woman he was sleeping with pregnant, according to court proceedings in Saudi Arabia.
A Saudi government spokesperson said that the court beheaded a man on Tuesday, after he was found guilty of incest in southern part of the country.
Hasan Ghazwani, a Saudi Arabian citizen, was executed in the city of Jizan, the Interior Ministry said in a public statement.
The spokesperson also said that Ghazwani had caused his female relative to become pregnant.
The spokesperson did not reveal the family relationship between the two, and did not say what happened to the baby.
The ministry said that the government did what the Prophet Muhammad ordered to do to those who commit incest.
Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are punishable by death under the nation’s sharia law.
So far this year, Saudi Arabia has killed 74 people for various crimes, while last year, the government killed 76 people.
