(Scroll down for video) If you thought that spitting on a sidewalk was permissible behavior you were mistaken, it is illegal, according to police reports in Minnesota.
Suck the saliva back into your cheeks if you are taking a walk in Minneapolis. There is a law on the books against spitting in public places, and yes it is enforced, as recently discovered when a man insisted on spitting on the sidewalk.
Myles Thomas, 21, was stunned after he received a $115 citation from the police after spitting on the sidewalk. The man was going to get pizza with his friends when he felt the need to expel some saliva.
A police officer, who noticed his spitting, detained him and gave him a ticket. He was charged with spitting on the sidewalks, buses or public areas.
"It's a little crazy," he admits. "I mean, what can you do though, it is the law. We have to obey the law of the land,” he said.
