An Israeli Arab man was arrested, charged and convicted of carrying out a terror attack after bombing a bus in Tel Aviv, according to court proceedings in Israel.
The defendant pleaded guilty on Monday, to putting a bomb on the bus in Tel Aviv last year, during the eight-day Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip, an Israeli court said.
The bomb exploded when the bus was driving near the Israeli Defense Ministry, wounding 15 people.
The Tel Aviv District Court accepted the plea deal struck with Mohammed Mafarja, 19, and found him guilty of attempted murder, attempted assault and aiding the enemy, according to the court ruling.
Mafarja, who was accused of working on behalf of the Islamist group Hamas, will be sentenced at a later date, the court said.
In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors promised not to seek a life sentence in prison.
