Parents were shocked and horrified after seeing a photo of their children squeezed in between mattresses while their teacher was sitting on top of them.
The photo, which circulated on the Internet, left many people outraged with the teacher and her behavior.
In the photos, the kindergarten teacher of Changsha, China, is seen smiling as she sits on top of a human pyramid made of her young students.
Parents took to social media sites to express their anger at her teaching methods.
According to one mother, this exercise was meant to demonstrate compressive strength and teamwork.
"The teacher is very happy. However, to look at the expressions of the children, my heart is cold!" She said.
Calls to the school did nothing to soothe the hearts of outraged parents as school officials said that this was a routine exercise.
School officials explained that the "hamburger stacking game” is an activity commonly performed at schools, and it is intended to teach kids willpower, resilience and team cooperation.
School officials went on to tell parents that this exercise has proper safety precautions to ensure the safety of the children.
However, an expert noted that this is a dangerous activity, as children who are placed at the bottom are prone to suffocate.
