A man was left with serious injuries after a gas tank exploded while cooking, according to rescue workers in Israel.
Magen David Adom Tel Aviv said that a 35-year-old man was severely burned in an explosion on Saturday. The incident occurred in the man’s apartment located in Reziel Street in Yafo.
According to the initial investigation, the explosion happened after cooking gas at the stove ignited.
Magen David Adom Tel Aviv paramedics, who were called to the scene, gave the victim primary care and transported the man to Ichilov Hospital in a serious condition.
The man was sedated and placed on a respirator after suffering burns all over his body. The explosion caused extensive damage to the home. Police at the scene blocked several surrounding streets including Jerusalem Boulevard.
Many firefighters arrived at the scene to extinguish the blaze, and fire investigators have opened an investigation in order to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
