(Scroll down for video) People were outraged after it was discovered that Starbucks, was using toilet water for their coffee.

The incident sparked outrage against the global coffee franchise after it became known that they allowed one of their franchisees to use water from pipes in the bathroom.

Hong Kong's Food and Environmental Hygiene Department issued a warning to Starbucks, located in the famous Bank of China Tower, after workers were found taking water from a pipe in the bathroom.

The pipe was only 1 meter away from the urinal of a run down bathroom, which was actually connected to the building's car park area.

They used the water to make coffee, and then sold them to customers.

Images emerged from the pipe in the bathroom with a sign which read: “Starbucks Only.”

“I am totally disappointed! The decision by Starbucks to use water from the toilet is a clear sign of the company's vision and the level of disrespect they have for the health of their customers," angry customer Kevin L. said.

“The water that was collected from the bathroom area by staff was put through a filtration system in the Starbucks store,” Starbucks spokesperson Wendy Pang said.

"There is no direct water supply to that particular store, that's why we have to get drinking water from the nearest source,” Pang added.

However, health officials and customers would not hear of it.

Since then, Starbucks began buying bottled water to use for the coffee.
