Farshad Hashemzadeh before and after |
(Scroll down for video) A teen was devastated after he developed breasts.
While one was normal in size his second breast kept growing until it was a B cup size.
Farshad Hashemzadeh of the United Kingdom, was 18-years-old when his breast started growing larger than normal.
Hashemzadeh, who is now 28-years-old, said he was so distressed by the growing breast that he tried to cut it off by himself after being denied surgery by the National Health Service (NHS).
“I tried to cut it away, it was painful and there was blood all over the floor,” he said.
Hashemzadeh suffered low self confidence, and he was embarrassed with his body leaving him unable to have a relationship.
"I put on two or three tops to hide the breast,” Hashemzadeh said.
His condition, although rare, is not unique. About 400 men are diagnosed each year with gynecomastia.
The condition, which is caused by a hormonal imbalance and is most common in men over 50-years-old, rarely manifests itself in such an extreme way.
In adolescence, it can also be a side effect of certain medications.
When Hashemzadeh met his current girlfriend Charlene Cullen, 30, (who is seen in the video below) things changed for the better.
"He was very embarrassed. It took a month before he told me what was wrong,” cullen said.
“It didn't bother me, but it did bother him and it made him very self conscious,” she added.
Cullen helped him raise the £3,000 ($4,800) for the cost to have the breast removed by a private doctor.
Now the breast is gone, and Farshad finally feels happy again.
He hopes that once the scar heals, he will start feeling “like a man” again.
“I just hope it doesn't come back,” he added.
