There are some people who like to boo at city board meetings. However, at some locations it is against the law to do so.

Now, board members of a small city in New York, have decided that it's okay to boo at their meetings, but only if done so politely.

The Riverhead board voted to ban booing earlier this month. However, the board has now voted 4 to 1 to strike down the anti-boo rules.

The Long Island Board however, retained another part of their weird code. Part of the code prohibits disruptive behavior and disruptive demonstrations.

No explanation was given at the board meeting what would be called politeful booing.
Councilman James Wooten's supervisor said the city should be able to maintain order in a meeting without written rules.

Supervisor Sean Walter defended the original anti-boos rule. He said there are similar regulations in cities across the state of New York.
