The leader of a Bnei Brak synagogue was arrested and charged with child sexual assault after he allegedly sexually assaulted a young boy, according to court proceedings in Israel.
The Tel Aviv District Attorney’s office filed an indictment with the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court against Yitzchak Sapir, 40, of Bnei Brak, after being accused of molesting a 14-year-old boy.
According to the indictment, the man brushed against the boy and kissed him when the two were alone in the synagogue.
The sexual abuse began last year.
The defendant also asked the victim to clean his apartment. After he finished cleaning the apartment, the suspect asked the boy for a hug. When the boy refused, he forcibly hugged the boy and held him against his body for some time.
When the boy broke free, the man grabbed him again and committed indecent acts.
When he was about to leave the apartment, Sapir asked the boy for one last hug and molested the boy again.
The next day, the suspect called the boy to the synagogue to help him clean up. When they were alone, he asked the boy to kiss him on the neck, cheek and mouth. While the boy kissed Sapir, he put his hands on his behind.
The boy told his mother about the abuse, who filed a police complaint.
Sapit denied the allegations against him, but admitted that the boy was in his apartment.
