(Scroll down for video) A foreign worker, who was employed as a home attendant, was arrested and charged with assault after she was seen on video severely abusing an elderly woman, according to court proceedings in Israel.
The video shows the worker beating the elderly woman in the head and hand, suffering injuries. Police said that the abuse occurred over a period of two months.
The home attendant from Nepal, abused Matilda Tourjeman, 90, on a daily basis.
The Tourjeman family recently moved to a new apartment and the security cameras were not working. When the family finally came around to fix the security cameras they were shocked to discover the abuse.
"My daughter checked the videos, and the images she saw were shocking. The video shows Sabina hitting and abusing my mother," Ayala Tourjeman, the oldest daughter of Matilda, said.
One video shows her hitting the woman just because she coughed during the breakfast.
In another video the worker is seen slapping the elderly woman in the face for coughing while drinking water.
The worker also threw the elderly woman into her bed.
During the trial, the foreign worker claimed that she beat the woman in order to help her.
The worker was convicted of aggravated assault.
Prosecutors are asking a judge to impose a prison sentence and to deport her from the country.
