(Scroll down for video) Burning chametz in preparation for the holiday of Passover.

In the process of removing all leavened bread from the house in preparation for the holiday of Passover, Jewish people around the world burn all their leftover chametz which was not sold to a non-Jewish person.

On the morning of the day before Passover, after throwing their chametz into the fire men say a prayer. Here is a rough translation:

“All chametz, leaven and leavened bread that is left in my possession, which I have not seen, removed or is unknown to me shall be deemed null and ownerless as the dust of the earth.”

The night before Passover Jewish men do a ritual called Bedikas Chametz, where ten pieces of bread are "hidden" around the house.
A candle is lit and final "ceremonial search" is conducted. A feather and a spoon are used to sweep the ten pieces of bread into a bag which is then burned with the other chametz the following morning.

In the video below you can see many people throwing their chametz into a fire. Kids are enjoying the ritual as the get the throw things into the fire.
