Officer laughing as they leave the search area |
A family might have to change the name of their beloved dog after it caused panic when a woman called the dog by its name.
A dog walker sparked a major search operation after calling out to her dog.
Police in Scotland were called after a woman was heard screaming for help from a wooded area. The people who heard the screams, feared that a woman had fallen into an old copper mine and that the woman was screaming for help.
Twenty officers, many of them with police dogs, along with a team of three mountain rescue workers, began scouring the hills and forests of Bridge of Allan, Stirlingshire, at 8:00 am on Monday.
During the search, officers spoke to many people who were in that area earlier that day in hopes that someone had seen or heard something that might help in the search. That is when they learned that a woman had been in the area with a dog named Yelp.
A police spokesperson said that police had a search team in the hills accompanied by search dogs. They are very well-trained in this sort of thing. They were conducting systematic searches of all sections of the hill.
Officers arrived at 8:00 am and performed a thorough check of the area until 5:00 pm. When they found nothing, they spoke to people to get more information. One of the people they talked to was the dog walker, who was on the hill this morning with her dog named Yelp.
Officers were happy that no one was hurt and they had a good laugh when they learned that the long search was triggered because of a dog's name.
