A man was arrested, charged and convicted of murder related charges after he was hired by a millionaire's wife to kill her husband and his mother, according to court proceedings in New York.

New York prosecutors said that a hit man was sentenced on Thursday to more than 17 years in prison for killing a Florida millionaire and his mother under the direction of the millionaire's wife.

The jail sentence of Alejandro Garcia was well under the federal sentencing guidelines because he cooperated with prosecutors almost from the time of his arrest, prosecutors said.

His trial testimony last year helped put away Narcy Novack and her brother, Cristobal Veliz, on charges that they organized the massacres in 2009.

Garcia admitted that he had helped kill Novack's husband, Ben Novack Jr., at a hotel in suburban New York.
Novack, 53, was beaten with weights on his bed.

Garcia also said he killed Bernice Novack, 86, by smashing in her face with a wrench at her home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Ben Novack's father built the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida.
Garcia, 35, a Nicaraguan immigrant, faces deportation after serving his sentence.

Narcy Novack and her brother are serving life sentences after being convicted last year of orchestrating the killings.

Prosecutors said that Novack feared her husband will divorce her and a prenuptial agreement would strip her from the family estate.
