A monkey handler was killed after he told his friend not to feed wine to his animals, according to police reports in India.
In a city where 19 percent of murders are carried out for the most crazy reasons, here's one that has shocked even the police.
A baggage handler at the railway station in New Delhi was arrested for the murder of a monkey handler inside the station, because, according to him, "the monkeys have the right to drink wine.”
The monkey handler, Irfan, 26, from Seemapuri in northeast Delhi, had asked Ram Babu, 36, also known as Gochu Pehelwan, not provide alcoholic beverages to his animals and warned him "not to test his patience."
"On the night of August 14, Ram Babu was near the Ajmeri Gate area looking for alcohol. When Irfan arrived there with his two monkeys, the two decided to have drinks together. After a while, Ram Babu began serving alcoholic beverages to Irfan’s monkeys. Irfan objected and a fight broke out during which Ram Babu hit him in the head with a brick. After that both fled from the scene," DCP Railways spokesperson Sanjay Bhatia said.
Witnesses told police that Irfan was seen with two monkeys. Police searched all locations where monkey handlers live.
"On August 15, at 5:50 am, Irfan was found unconscious near the Ajmeri entrance of the New Delhi train station. He was taken to Lok Nayak Hospital where he died from a head injury. A blood stained brick was found at the scene," Bhatia said.
