(Scroll down for video) A cellphone thief ran out of luck after he tripped over his saggy pants while running away from police, according to police reports in New York.
Brooklyn Police said that a bad wardrobe choice led to the arrest of a cellphone thief when he stumbled on his sagging jeans during his attempt to flee from the cops, who were chasing him down.
Joel Donaldson, 21, allegedly punched his victim in the face before snatching her cell about 2:30 pm on the corner of Court and Remsen streets, a short walk from Borough Hall. He then tried to escape on foot, but did not get very far.
His drooping blue jeans, which left his underwear exposed, slid down further as he ran.
A police officer, who was directing traffic, saw the incident and ran after him.
Donaldson was only a block away before his pants were completely around his ankles, allowing the officer to tackle him near Joralemon Street.
"He was weaving all over the place, but could not run because his pants were falling," a witness, Arlene Williams, said.
"The police saw him, and went right after him," she said.
Donaldson was arrested two blocks from the Brooklyn Criminal Court on charges of theft, police said.
