It may come as a surprise to some, but the Israeli health care efficiency received extremely high marks, according to a new survey released by Bloomberg News.
Israel ranked number four on a new classification system in the overall efficiency of health care, ahead of advanced countries such as the United Kingdom and the United States.
According to the data, which ranked countries based on life expectancy, the cost of healthcare as a percentage of GDP per capita, and the cost of health care per capita, Israel came in with a score of 68.7.
Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan took the three top spots, ahead of Israel. Canada came in at number 17, the United Arab Emirates was a number 12, and the United Kingdom, famous for its national health system, came in at number 14.
Meanwhile, the U.S. ranked very poor, coming in at number 46, behind countries such as Algeria, Iran, Cuba and The Dominican Republic.
Israelis had the longest life expectancy rate in the Middle East and Africa, coming in at 81.8 years, according to the report.
