As we reported earlier, an abandoned newborn baby girl has been found on a Jerusalem Street, according to hospital officials.
Jerusalem Police said that a newborn baby was found abandoned in the neighborhood of al-Musrara on Saturday.

A local boy found the baby girl and notified his family, who called police. The baby had a note attached to her in Arabic that read: "This child is under your protection now. Take good care of her."

The baby, whose name is Asmaa, was in good health and still had her umbilical cord wrapped around her belly, indicating that she was born just hours before she was found, a spokesperson for Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital where the baby is being treated said.

A bottle of milk and a few diapers were next to the baby.
Police are trying to locate the parents of the child and have contacted social services.
