An Israeli man, who suffers from cancer, suddenly lost his government aid because he allegedly began to work, according to a report by Yedioth Ahronoth.
David, 56, was surprised to learn that his monthly aid of 3,500 shekel was reduced to 1,200 shekel because he apparently began receiving paychecks from his new job.
"I do not understand what happened," David said. "I called the National Insurance agency and told them I was barely functioning, and it is impossible for me to work," he said. However, David was told by the agency that paychecks were recently reported in his name.
David began to investigate and he found out that a cleaning company in the Israeli city of Ramat Gan was issuing those paychecks. "I went to the company along with two family members and discovered that someone was working there with my identity," David said.
The owner of the company immediately contacted the police and the Israeli Immigration and Border Agency, who identified the fraudster as Waha Kuzashvili, 58, of Georgia. The man entered Israel in 2012 with a tourist visa, which has since expired.
Kuzashvili was arrested. He later admitted to purchasing the ID card for 2,000 shekel. Kuzashvili was deported.
