Boaz Albert tased |
(Scroll down for video) A police officer was arrested and charged with using excessive force after allegedly tasering a handcuffed man 24 times, according to court proceedings in Israel.
The Internal Affairs Bureau filed the charges against the police officer for excessive use of a Taser.
The indictment was filed in the District Court of Tel Aviv a week after a video of the incident was released. The police officer used the excessive force against well-known right-wing activist Boaz Albert.
Sa'il Anim, 29, a police officer of the Yiftah District, is accused of abusing a bound person with a Taser device. According to the indictment, the detainee was electrocuted while lying on the floor, while sitting in the back seat of a police car, and in a police questioning room.
Investigators said that this was not the first time Anim used excessive force against a detainee.
In another case, after a male detainee fell to the ground, Anim tasered him three times despite the fact that he was handcuffed.
