A teen was stabbed after a thief demanded that she hand over her smart phone, according to police reports in Israel.
Tel Aviv Police said that a 16-year-old was taken to the Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv on Thursday night, with a knife lodged in her stomach. Police said that she was stabbed by an immigrant, who tried to steal her mobile phone. She sustained moderate injuries, according to hospital officials.
Tel Aviv Police have yet to arrest the suspect after spending all night looking for him. An initial investigation suggests that the girl was walking in a Tel Aviv park with a friend when a dark-skinned man tried to steal her cell phone.
The girl refused to hand over her phone. That is when the man pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the stomach, hoping that she would let it go. Then, the suspect fled the scene as the phone and the girl fell to the ground with the knife lodged in her stomach.
Magen David Adom paramedics were called to the scene. Emergency workers decided not to pull the knife and rushed the girl to the hospital where doctors took the knife out of her stomach and handed it over to the police. Officials hope to use DNA on the knife to locate the suspect.
