A man was arrested and charged with attempting to crash a plane related charges after he tried opening the emergency exits in order to bring down the plane, according to a statement released by the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
The FBI said that they arrested a man, who allegedly tried to open an emergency exit forcing a flight to land in Memphis, Tennessee, has been charged with two counts related to his actions.
Randolph B. Robinson, 63, of Austin, Texas, is charged with "knowingly and intentionally trying to damage, destroy, disable and wreck a plane, by trying to open the exit, while the plane was in flight.”
The plane was headed to Austin, Texas from Baltimore, Maryland, on Monday.
According to the indictment, the flight attendants had to physically remove Robinson from the emergency exit, and the crew was forced to make an emergency landing in Memphis, Tennessee.
The other 120 passengers on the plane had to get off the plane in Memphis, where Robinson was questioned. The flight arrived in Austin 2 and a half hours late.
If Robinson is convicted of the crime, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.
