(Scroll down for video) A family was left grieving after a man shot and killed himself just hours after his wife gave birth.
According to police, the 32-year-old Michael Carl Nobles of Texas had a concealed weapon in the hospital room, which he used to shoot and kill himself.
Nobles was in the room with his wife Kendra at the Willowbrook Methodist Hospital when he pulled the trigger and shot himself.
So far, police have not released a motive for the shooting. Houston Police spokesperson John Cannon said that Nobles was “distraught” before he committed suicide in the private hospital room where his wife was recovering after giving birth.
The baby was not in the room at the time, and since it was a private room there was no one else in the room. Some people reported hearing what sounded like the couple arguing shortly before the shots were fired. The man’s wife was not injured.
Nobles was taken to the Memorial Hermann Hospital via helicopter where he was pronounced dead.
Police are still baffled as to how the man was able to smuggle the gun into the hospital. The hospital has a strict "No Gun" policy.
