(Scroll down for video) An Arab man was arrested and charged with attempted murder related charges after stabbing a rabbi’s wife inside her hotel room, according to court proceedings in Israel.
Prosecutors filed an indictment today in the Nazareth District Court against Ruchee Saabich Sallach, 35, of Nazareth, after he attempted to murder of the wife of Rabbi Zamir Cohen.
The attempted murder took place when the woman, 40, the mother of eight children, stayed in a hotel room in Nazareth. Sallach entered the woman's room with a knife, and stabbed her several times.
During the assault, Sallach also hit the woman with a ceramic mug and electric kettle, which were inside the room.
The suspect fled the scene after the woman pretended to be dead. The indictment did not specify the motive behind the attack.
As we reported earlier, a man was arrested and charged with assault related charges after he assaulted a rabbi’s wife inside a hotel room where the rabbi and his wife were staying, according to police reports in Israel.
The incident occurred in a hotel in the Israeli city of Nazareth, a popular vacation spot for ultra-Orthodox Jewish families.
It all began when a young Arab man entered the hotel unnoticed and went into the room where the rabbi and his wife stayed. He attacked the woman with an electric kettle and other sharp objects. The wife’s husband is a well-known Orthodox Jewish rabbi, police said.
The police arrived at the scene and began searching for the suspect, who fled from the scene after the assault. About an hour later, the police spotted the suspect in a different neighborhood in Nazareth. According to police, the crime was criminal in nature and not a terror attack. The man was identified as a 35-year-old resident of Nazareth.
Police vowed to come down hard on the suspect in order to return a sense of security among hotel guests.
