(Scroll down for video) A Missouri sheriff's deputy was arrested and charged with rape related charges.
Maxwell Blanchard, 41, who is married and has a family of his own, was arrested by police in Belton, Missouri for second-degree statutory sodomy on a family friend’s 14-year-old daughter.
Blanchard, who is a member of the Cass County Sheriff's Office, is accused of performing sexual acts on the 14-year-old girl, who was visiting his family.
The victim's mother told police that her family went to a gathering at the Lake Pome De Terre on the weekend and the Blanchard family was also at the gathering.
The teen chose to go home with the Blanchard family to watch a movie with the deputies children. The next day, the mother discovered messages on her daughter’s phone, which prompted her to call the police.
The text messages indicated that Blanchard had performed sex acts on the girl. After a subsequent search of the victim's phone, additional sexually explicit messages have been recovered.
In one of the messages, Blanchard told the teenager to delete all messages between the two of them, and in another message, the officer indicated that if the incident would be publicized his life is over.
Blanchard’s bond was set at $25,000 cash.KCTV5
