(Scroll down for video) A man was angry that his girlfriend decided to move away so he decided to call police to say that she was kidnapped, according to police reports in Florida.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said that a Tavernier man was arrested Saturday afternoon for falsely reporting that his girlfriend had been kidnapped.

35-year-old Mathew Corp called Sheriff dispatchers just after 2:00 pm to report that his wife had been kidnapped by two men heading north from the 92 mile marker in a U-Haul truck. A warning to be on the lookout for the vehicle was announced over police radios, and officer E. B. Askins arrived on Burton Drive in order to meet with Corp.

When he reached the address, the officer found a vehicle parked in the front of the house that was running with the doors open. Two women left Corp’s apartment. One woman was identified as the former girlfriend of Corp. She said she was leaving the house.

Corp came out of the apartment. He was obviously drunk and started yelling at officer Askins and at the two women. Corp told officer Askins that he had called police to report the false kidnapping in order to keep his girlfriend from leaving his apartment.

Corp was arrested. Corp fought with officer Askins as he was being arrested. He was charged with misuse of the emergency 911 system and resisting arrest. He was later booked into jail.
