(Scroll down for video) A man was hospitalized after he shot himself while sleeping.
The man had a rude awakening when he accidentally shot himself in the leg.
Police were called after the man in Concord, New Hampshire, blew a hole in his knee by shooting himself while he was sleepwalking. The man was wandering around his house at 12:30 am, with the gun in his hand when he accidentally released the weapon and shot himself.
His wife woke up to find that her husband was bleeding from the knee. She called police and he was rushed to a local hospital where he is recovering from injuries that are not life threatening.
The man told officers that he had been sleepwalking when the gun was fired.
"We'd like to know what happened and have more details. But the only witness to the incident was the person who was shot, and it sounds like he doesn't know exactly what happened," police lieutenant Tim O'Malley said.
Police Chief John Duval said it was a good opportunity to remind citizens to store their guns in a safe place.
