A fox that has attacked an ultra-Orthodox Jewish girl, was diagnosed as suffering from rabies, according to health officials in New Jersey.
Ocean County health officials tell said that the State Health Public Agricultural and Environmental Laboratory conducted tests on the fox and notified county officials.
As we reported earlier, a girl suffered serious injuries after she was attack by a fox, according to emergency workers in New Jersey.
Lakewood Hatzolah said that a fox bit a four-year-old girl of an Orthodox Jewish family.
The incident occurred at 6:00 pm, while the girl was walking with her sister near her house when suddenly a fox appeared, jumped on the girl and bit her arm in front of her terrified sister. Both girls began screaming for help.
Neighbors who heard the screams found the girl bleeding, and a fox running around the girl in circles. Police and Hatzolah were called to the scene.
An animal control officer, who was also called to the scene, tried to approach the fox, but was also attacked. That is when police decided to shoot and kill the fox. Fox was taken to a veterinarian, to check whether it had rabies.
The girl was transported by ambulance to the Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood for treatment.
