A man was arrested and charged with assault related charges after admitting to beating his wife after she took a picture with a green balloon, according to police reports in Israel.

Kfar Saba Police said that a 31-year-old was charged Tuesday for assaulting his pregnant wife. According to the indictment, the victim took a picture of the couple's baby, who is four-months-old, with a green balloon, against the wishes of the suspect. The suspect reacted violently and locked up his wife.

The indictment was filed this morning in the Petach Tikva Magistrate’s Court. Prosecutors told the court that the victim had been abused by her husband throughout her pregnancy. Among other things, prosecutors said that the defendant became enraged after his wife took a picture with their child next to a green balloon.

The defendant demanded an apology from his wife, reminding her that the color of the balloon is the same color as the car that her former boyfriend had bought her. She apologized, but he still beat her.

The court also heard how the defendant attacked his wife in front of his and her parents. In another incident, he beat her up in public after she tried to break up with him.
At some point, the woman ran away from home. The suspect tracked her down and brought her back home.

According to the indictment, the defendant locked his wife inside their home without a phone or money for an entire year. The victim stated that her husband took away her ID card. She added that she was afraid to contact police. An anonymous third-party contacted the police, who launched an investigation.

The defendant initially denied the allegations, but later confessed. He told police that he never beat his wife on her stomach only on her hands and legs.
