(Scroll down for video) Three men were arrested and charged after attempting to blow up a Tel Aviv supermarket, according to court proceedings.
The Tel Aviv District Court filed charges against three men, who are accused of providing the bomb used against the Tiv Taam supermarket in Tel Aviv. According to the indictment, Adom Elgazi, 23, Eliran Vaknin, 27, and Effie Jerbi, 28, produced the bomb, which miraculously did not explode. Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office did not reveal the motive behind the crime.
According to the indictment, last February, Elgazi bought 133 grams of explosives, detonators and electric wire, for 2,000 shekels and kept them in his house. Vaknin and Jerbi bought the materials needed to assemble them into a bomb.
The bomb was assembled in Elgazi’s home. Vaknin and Jerbi also purchased two metal ashtrays, shrapnel, and paper bags needed to assemble a bomb, for 6,000 shekels.
The bomb was then transported to an apartment in Kfar Yona. According to the indictment, the deadly bomb was designed to cause great destruction and death when it explodes.
On March 12, the Tiv Taam supermarket branch located on Even Gvirol Street in Tel Aviv was set on fire. While firefighter worked to extinguish the fire they found the unexploded bomb inside the supermarket. Prosecutors accused the three of conspiracy to commit a crime, causing damage by explosives and weapons production.
