Amanda Bynes |
(Scroll down for video) Amanda Bynes surely has an interesting off-screen life. She has been involved in many cases throughout this year. Though, her latest run-in with police has landed her in a hospital.
The onetime child star, has been hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation after initiating a fire in a Los Angeles suburb.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that she “was involved in a disturbance in a residential area.” This area is about an hour outside of Los Angeles. She was placed under a psychiatric hold which can last up to seventy-two hours.
“Deputies nearby responded and held her on 5150 welfare and institution code (involuntary psychiatric hold),” said Capt. Don Aguilar. The Ventura County Fire Department responded to a 911 call at 8:38 pm on Monday, and Amanda was taken into custody after she started a fire in an elderly woman’s driveway.
She was found carrying a small red gas tank. When questioned about her motive, her answers were so far out in the left field that the deputies decided to put her in a hospital on a 5150. The area where she allegedly started a fire was not too far from where she had been previously accused of trespassing.
As of now, no charges have been filed against the 27-year-old actress. For Bynes, this wasn’t her first time undergoing psychiatric evaluation. On May 23, she was taken to Roosevelt Hospital to undergo mental evaluation after being arrested for allegedly throwing a bong outside of the window of her 36th floor apartment in NYC.
The former Nickelodeon star is due in court on August 26 to face charges of reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and marijuana possession stemming from her May arrest.
