(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested, charged and convicted after running a day care facility inside a home where her boyfriend operated a meth lab, according to court proceedings in Iowa.
Now, Davenport Police said that the woman, who operated a licensed day care in the same house where her boyfriend ran a meth lab, was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison Friday.
Amanda Taylor, a 34-year-old mother of four, pleaded guilty to four charges related to the operation of a drug lab, which was discovered by police late last year.
Her boyfriend, Dale Sammie Blumer, received a 25-year suspended sentence and was placed on probation last month after pleading guilty to four felonies, including the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Although the woman had no criminal record, Scott County Circuit Judge Gary McKenrick told the court that he would not consider parole for Taylor because she ignored the safety of children, whose parents entrusted her with their safety.
At sentencing, Taylor was confronted by Fawn Waack, the tearful mother of a child, who had tested positive for methamphetamine at a level three times higher than Taylor herself.
"The worst of it is because of your irresponsibility, I have no idea what is in store for my son. Doctors know little about the long-term effect," Waack told Taylor in the courthouse, explaining that her son is still suffering from headaches and has trouble sleeping at night.
Taylor offered an apology, but the judge showed no leniency in sentencing. Thirteen children were believed to have been exposed to methamphetamine at various times in the day care.
