(Scroll down for video) A restaurant was shut down after an undercover video was posted to YouTube that showed filth all over the kitchen right next to food, according to video uploaded to the internet.

A Denny's restaurant in northwest Washington state closed last week for a deep cleaning, after the secretly recorded video showed stomach-churning dirt throughout the kitchen.

The video showed layers of old food coating the spaces under kitchen appliances, dirty dishes and utensils stacked in piles around the kitchen, and dirt clinging to various cooking surfaces. The restaurant is located in Ferndale, Washington. The video has so far been viewed over 12,500 time since it was first posted on YouTube.

Some viewers of the video were alarmed enough to contact the Health Department in Whatcom County, which sent an inspector to the restaurant. When the inspector arrived, the restaurant was in the midst of its deep cleaning.

The restaurant re-opened the same day, after the inspection. The health inspector said that the restaurant was inspected again the following week.

“At Denny’s, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality experience for our customers, and that includes the food we serve and the condition of our restaurants. We take any report that suggests otherwise very seriously and any kitchen in violation of local health standards is unacceptable.

We sent the restaurant in Ferndale resources to work with the local health department to ensure the quality and safety of the food. The department has inspected and approved the conditions. The Ferndale, Washington restaurant is now open to the public,” Denny’s Restaurant said in a statement.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
