A company was slapped with a record breaking lawsuit of $40 billion after being accused of being responsible for the death of Michael Jackson, according to court proceedings in California.

The Jackson family is determined to hold AEG Live, an entertainment company, responsible for the death of Michael Jackson.
Michael Jackson's mother, Katherine Jackson, and his three children, Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael II Jackson, are suing the entertainment giant for $40 billion, blaming the company for hiring Doctor Conrad Murray.

The website says that Jackson filed legal documents accusing AEG Live for negligent hiring and supervision of Murray during the preparations for the "This Is It" tour in 2009.

Murray, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Jackson, has been serving time in a prison in Los Angeles, California. The doctor said that he will plead the Fifth Amendment in order to avoid participating in the AEG Live lawsuit, and his lawyers said that everything he could say at the lawsuit trial could be harmful to an appeal of his conviction and a possible new trial.

The children of Michael Jackson are asking for $10 billion from AEG Live for all future profits their father could have earned doing concerts and $50 million for various other injuries.
AEG Live laughed at the record breaking lawsuit, saying that Jackson's career was in a downward spiral and that the claim for damages is based on pure speculation.
