A man was injured after jumping out of burning building in Bnei Brak, Israel, according to fire officials in Israel.
Bnei Brak firefighters said that a fire broke out this morning at the Belz yeshiva located on Beit Shammai Street in Bnei Brak. A teacher was injured after he decided to jump out of a first floor window in order to escape from the flames.
Firefighters of the Dan unit and Ichud Hatzalah volunteers, who were at the scene, treated the man at the scene. He was later taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
An initial investigation indicates that the fire ignited by an electrical short-circuit. The fire broke out during class. The students were able to escape, while their teacher feared going through the smoke-filled hallway the door and jumped out from the window instead. He suffered injuries to his back.
“When I arrived at the scene, I saw a man lying on the ground in terrible pain. The man was fully conscious and told me that he jumped out of the window because the room was quickly filling up with smoke,” Yechiel Miller of Ichud Hatzalah of Bnei Brak said.
