Police said that the victim of a fatal hit and run accident in Cape Cod, Massachusetts on Thursday night was an Israeli driving in a rented van with several passengers, including children, police said.
The three-vehicle accident, which occurred at 8:00 pm at the base of the Sagamore Bridge in Bourne, occurred when a pickup truck merged onto Route 6 east when its left front or left side hit the front right of another truck, traveling eastbound approaching the bridge.
The second truck veered into the westbound lanes, striking the victim's minivan and pushing it against the railing, police said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as 44-year-old Amnon Bogomolsky. Bogomolsky accompanied his son on his Bar Mitzvah trip to the United States.
The son was also injured in the accident.
There were three adults and three children in the minivan that was hit. They were all traveling together. The other two children in the car were not injured, but their mother was injured. The victims were all hospitalized in Providence, Rhode Island.
At least six people were injured.
The driver of the second truck, a 43-year-old of Sandwich, Massachusetts, was ejected from his vehicle. He was taken to South Shore Hospital with serious injuries.
The vehicle that allegedly caused the accident fled from the scene. Police are asking the public's help to find a dark-colored truck with minor or moderate damage to its left front end or on the left side.
The accident caused the closure of the bridge in both directions for several hours, snarling traffic.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
