(Scroll down for video) A Washington D.C. man received a warning to stop beautifying the city or face arrest, according to police reports in Washington D.C.
Transit officials vowed that they will stop the recent flower planting man.
Henry Docter thought he was doing something good, planting flowers in planters around the Metro Station in Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C. Then, he received a cease and desist letter from Metro officials, threatening arrest, fines and imprisonment, if he dared to continue his unauthorized flower planting.
"I was expecting a heartfelt thank you", Docter, who calls himself the "Phantom Planter," said. "I never expected to received a letter," he added.
Metro officials said that the warning was for the Docter’s own good. After all, they said, the flower boxes could fall on Docter while watering, weeding or otherwise tending to his flowers.
Docter, who claims to have planted 40,000 flower bulbs in public places around the world, believes he has the experience to safely continue his mission.
Straphangers seem to support Docter, especially considering that the garden at the Dupont Circle station was disgusting.
"The garden terrace area was neglected and the planters were filled with cigarette butts, broken glass and other debris," Docter said.
Docter is working to build support for his cause through an online petition on Change.org. So far, his petition has gathered more than 2,000 signatures in support of his flower planting. He also has a dedicated website that helps spread the word about the flower planting.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
