(Scroll down for video) A woman died because the male gym employee refused to go into the ladies room in order to help the sick woman, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court in New York.
The lawsuit alleged that the Long Island New York woman collapsed and died in the bathroom of a Bay Shore health club because the male employee refused to enter the women's locker room to try to save her.
Emily Hamlin, 22, was in the ladies room at Planet Fitness on Route 27 during a workout early in the morning when another gym member heard her fall to the ground.
"I heard a flush and then a thud," the member, Stephanie Dick, recalled in a sworn statement about the incident. "I saw the arm of a woman lying on the floor, followed immediately by a loud snoring sound," the woman said.
Dick said she ran to the desk and begged gym employee Sean Higgins to help.
"He said he did not know what to do and is not allowed to go inside the ladies room," Dick said in her affidavit.
Nothing was done to help the woman. Later, when police arrived, she was pronounced dead. Planet Fitness said that they are not responsible for the woman’s death.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
