(Scroll down for video) A woman is lucky to be alive after she was severely beaten and nearly choked to death when she went over to a home in order to collect rent from a tenant, according to a statement released by Israeli police.
The woman, who works for the housing company “Amidar”, gave a heartbreaking interview about her ordeal to an Israeli television news station.
"He choked me and I was unable to breathe," the woman, who was brutally attacked by a tenant, said. The woman was hospitalized, while the tenant surrendered himself to the police.
One morning, the Amidar worker was informed to head over to the tenant’s home because the tenant agreed to pay a 1,500 shekel debt, which had accumulated from unpaid rent. When the woman entered the apartment, the tenant led her to the bathroom, in order to show her things that need to be fixed. The unsuspecting woman when with the tenant to the bathroom.
"He said: 'Do not talk, do not yell, shut up.’ He grabbed a pillow and tried to strangle me with it," she said in an interview. "He then took a blanket, covered me with it and choked me. I was unable to breathe," she said. The attack lasted several minutes during which the suspect beat the woman in her head repeatedly and beat her all over her body. Only after she pleaded for her life, did the suspect let her go.
"I beg you, I have daughters and I have grandchildren. Why are you doing this to me? I beg you," the woman said that she told the suspect. "It was attempted murder, he tried to kill me. I do not know how I came out alive," the woman also said. The worker was taken to a hospital with bruises all over her body and needed hospitalization. The attacker fled, but later turned himself into police. He has not provided a motive for attack.
