A man was arrested, charged and convicted of assault related charges after ordering pizza to a non existing address and then robbing the pizza delivery person, according to court proceedings in Haifa, Israel.
Now, a judge in Haifa sentenced the man to 5 years in jail.
The suspect of Kiryat Haim, Haifa, was sentenced to five years in prison today in the District Court in Haifa after being convicted of two robberies. The man ordered pizza to an address that does not exist and robbed the delivery person.
The man, Yigal Efrat, 39, ordered the pizza from "Pizza Monster" to a Kiryat Bialik address that does not exist. When the messenger came to the area, Efrat demanded at gunpoint, to hand over his money.
Efrat stole the smart phone device in his possession, a helmet and a motorcycle, then fled from the scene.
Also, Efrat robbed a "Pizzeria Torino" pizza delivery man at knifepoint in Kiryat Yam. He stole his scooter, a helmet, and an iPhone holder containing 300 shekels.
Efrat fled with the scooter, but the complainant pursued after him and filed a complaint with the police. Later, the second victim noticed Efrat riding on a scooter on Truman Street in Kiryat Yam, and sprayed him with tear gas. He managed to detained him until police arrived at the scene.
Efrat expressed remorse for his actions and apologized to the complainants. The man admitted that he made a serious mistake and took responsibility for the robberies. He said, among other things, that he suffered greatly in his life and paid a high price due to his drug addiction.
The judge, Hani Horowitz, convicted him of aggravated robbery and sentenced him to five years in prison. He was also sentenced to 18 months probation and compensation to the complainants in the amount of 7,000 shekel.
