(Scroll down for video) A Jewish woman was left devastated after receiving a call late at night that her wig salon is on fire. Police suspect that the fire was arson, according to a statement released by police in Florida.
The owner of the high-end wig salon, said she is devastated after her store caught fire early Thursday.
"I start working at 6:00 am, at some days work until 12:00 at night, so it's very difficult," Rachel Berkowitz, standing in front of her burned business said. "I put my heart and soul into this and no it is gone," she said.
Police and firefighters were called to save Rachel's Wig Salon, located at 163 Street and 11th Avenue at 1:00 am. "The police called me and told me that there is a fire. I came and saw that the whole store was burned," Berkowitz said.
According to the North Miami Beach Police incident report, police responded to a burglar alarm and saw the back door glass of the store shattered. Officials said a fire investigator was called and collected evidence.
When asked if she knows someone who might want to hurt her business, Berkowitz said: "No, I have no enemies, on the contrary, never had enemies."
Her customers expressed their amazement at the fire. "I'm shocked, absolutely shocked," Talia Eisenberger said. "I came here to make my wigs, and I saw this, and it's terrible. I feel bad for Rachel. It's terrible," she said.
"I feel very bad," another customer said. "All her stuff was in there. It's her job. It's very, very sad," the customer added.
Berkowitz said she has insurance, but she is not sure if it will cover all losses. It is estimated that the cost of damage is anywhere between $100,000 and $120,000.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
