A man, who was choking on some food, is lucky to be alive after a yeshiva boy came to his rescue, according to a statement released by Magen David Adom rescue officials in Israel.

The 50-year-old man’s life was saved yesterday after the 14-year-old yeshiva student, who is a member of the Breslov Hasidic sect, successfully completed a short Magen David Adom course on first aid. All yeshiva students studying at the Yavne'el yeshiva prepare for civil service as Magen David Adom rescue volunteers, when they graduate from yeshiva.

The incident took place late at night in the courtyard of the Yavne'el school belonging to the Breslov Hasidic sect. The boy, who was engaged in his study, heard a thump outside the yeshiva building. The boy decided to check out what caused the strange sound, that is when he saw the man lying on the floor, red-faced.

The initial investigation revealed that the man, who was on vacation in the city, was talking on his cell phone device while eating some food, and as a result, he choked and collapsed on the floor.

The teen did not panic and performed the proper first aid procedure, which saved the man’s life.
